to let go

did you mean what you said?
was it a game for you?
that you'd be better off without me?
or were you hurting too?
i felt alone at school
and i was surrounded by people.
kept thinking to myself what did i do??
cuz now i'm nothing,
nothing without you.

why do we have to let go
of the things we love the most
before we realize
how much they mean in our lives?
did we have to say goodbye?
it only made me want to cry
to think of a day without you
i wonder, what would i do
without you?

thought i'd forget we'd ever met
not remember things you said
or the way you looked at me
it seemed you made me feel perfect
and i close my eyes
i couldn't fall asleep
my mind wouldn't let me be.
part of me was missing,
i can't breathe.

why do we have to let go
of the things we love the most
before we realize
how much they mean in our lives?
did we have to say goodbye?
it only made me want to cry
to think of a day without you
i wonder, what would i do
without you?

but now, you've gone.
and i just want you back here with me.
please tell me
how could i agree
against every little thing
my heart was telling me?
and now, i feel so lonely
like it was too good to be true
and yet i know i still need you
i do.

(music interlude of chorus)

cuz you were the only one
who would listen to me
pretend for just a second
that you even cared about me
but atleast you were here,
now i regret that you've gone
but i need to say i'm sorry
before you move on.
sorry that i loved you,
all along.

why do we have to let go
of the things we love the most
before we realize
how much they mean in our lives?
did we have to say goodbye?
it only made me want to cry
to think of a day without you,
i wonder, what would i do
without you?

This is beautiful, i'm actually not a poet but a song writer and musician, it has meaning that flows yet doesn't stray from it's original intent.quite a bit going on and yet it's very coherent. A lovely peice written with style and much grace . . .
