Queens

I know why you allow them to depict you that way in videos

And every time I turn on BET, there you go

Wearing something smaller, skimpier or not even there

Half of the time I dont even know who the artist is, Im like who cares

See at times, I get transfixed on the eye candy they lay before me

And Im only human so there are points impure thoughts come to storm me

If you only knew that your real name is Queen Nafertiti

That you should be the owner of these record labels not dancing on TV

Frivolous acts with empty vessels of men parading about with jewels around their neck

Dropping it like its hot, is hot, come on now the queen before you raised you better then that

You are the daughter of Ra and Nut the goddess of the sky

The only reason the sun shines

The reason the stars come to greet our unworthy imaginations

You are the queen that has been thrown unjustly from her throne

Left about the mud and forgotten

You are the mighty Nile, our African blood line

Theyve built reservoirs and dams so they have forgotten about you

Choose to use you and mold you the way they feel fit

Thats why they think they can throw some money around and youll dance for it

See its starts with ownership, you got to walk like a queen

Hold your head up a little higher; you got to talk like a queen

So that means:

*****, Chick, Ho and anything else that demeans

You dont even bat an eyelash let alone show up on scene

Because I know, there is just no amount of green

That could get the woman that I call queen

To do some of the ***** that I done seen

So queens, start teaching these princesses

That wearing dresses

Doesnt only have to occur during something festive

Or during a memorial

Cause Ive seen four of you

Get together and wear something thats absolutely deplorable

I mean honestly

Your majesty

I expect more of you

It just happens to be my point of view

And I should hope that you should want more for you too

So let the sun shine on your sea

Be the queen I know you can be

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
