Succulent Hope

Contributed by carrie on Sunday, 16th September 2007 @ 11:06:58 PM in AEST
Topic: anguished

It drips like nectar
just out of reach,
oozing sweetness.

Fragrant, tantalizing charmer,
it flutters by on silken,
powdered wings
just out of reach.
Beckons me dances forward.
Beseeches me dances back.

Crystal clear droplets
encasing a tiny fantasy world
I may never venture into.

It glitters with promise
that this one taste
is worth waiting for.

To yield is inevitable.
The urge cannot be fought.

Once inside, my heart explodes
and turns my lungs to cotton candy.
Sweet hope expands my veins
and surges like honey!

Sweet hope.
How dead I am without it.

I feel this poem, and understand it so much. I am just the same. Just lately I have found myself feeling hopeless, and yes, it does feel like you are almost dead.

I love this write, you have a great use of language and it's well formed.

Great write.

I liked it and could understand where much of it was coming from but I'm sorry the mention on cotton candy ruined it. I know you are mentioning sweet things but it just doesn't seem to fit. That is just me.
