Helpless Bystander

Contributed by sir_odd87 on Thursday, 27th September 2007 @ 02:09:56 AM in AEST
Topic: SecretLove

It's like a horrible car accident
That I can't bear to see.
But I also can't look away
Even though it also hurts me.

I want to ease your pain
And wipe your tears away
But knowing you'll be hurt tomorrow
Won't let me help today

You've told me all about
This new guy in your life,
And I try to encourage you away
From all that potential strife.

Herein lies my problem,
How can I warn you of what I see?
How can I tell you to avoid him
Without telling you to come to me?

You've told me in no uncertain terms
You're comfortable with me
And as long as I'm not pursuing you
That's the way that it'll be.

You mentioned, much to my chagrin,
About your history of horrible men.
I'd like nothing more than to be with you
And to try to keep you from hurting again.

Meaningful and noble sentiments! I know what you mean in this regard; some girls do so seem to be attracted to a type which is not as it seems, and sometimes it's only ourselves as men who are able to see into another man's character (at other times, of course, it's the women who can get a better glimpse into male character; it depends what's gone into our experience).

Well, do what seems best to you, but don't let her fall for the wrong thing again, if you can help it.

Andrew
