Rhyme Scheme per verse: ABCABCA
All that we want and desire And all that we shun and dread Heaven, love, honor and glory Heartbreak, obscurity, and hells fire To save or damn us once were dead. Which will define us, form our story, When we lie in casket or burn on pyre?
Where do you prefer to rest? The lovers bed, or the cynics throne? For what purpose do you spend your coin, Fine garments to be finely dressed Or with friends lest you be alone? Which mystic faction did you join, Or is this existence not a test?
By mind or heart is the die cast? Is it better to have loved and lost, And sternly go forward, to no avail A relic of the chivalric age long past? Or to never love, and forego the cost Yet constantly know that you have failed As each night grows lonelier than the last?
Do you point fingers or take the blame? Create a problem or a solution? Serve yourself or a heavenly master, And do you love him or fear the flame? Are we at the pinnacle of evolution, Or at the precipice of disaster? Do we still wait for a sunrise that never came?
