You Smiled Once

Contributed by lost_chadow on Wednesday, 7th November 2007 @ 03:09:39 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

You smiled once
and now I can't get you out
you stay in my head and fill me with dread
that my foolishness will out.
It's a smile, what's so great?
But I felt like it was just for me
I've seen you laugh and giggle before
but when was the last time you smiled at me?
You smiled once
and now I doubt my sanity
but not my vanity
thinking you would do anything
but politely smile at me
hah!
You smiled once
and now I know that I know
in my heart of hearts
that I have to get away from you
'cause if I keep thinkin' hazy
I'll do something crazy
and embarass both me and you.
"That girl wants to dance with you"
folk whispered in my ear
but if I brushed up against you
would you wince and disappear?
Of course! Of this, I have no doubt
so kick these thoughts straight out.
You smiled once
and reminded how folk find it comedic
to take advantage
and tell me something romantic
that's only totally acted.
You smiled once
and brought back all my fears
that attempting to love
could only end in my tears
for if I should test my inhibitions
surely, I bring about my humiliation.
You smiled once
please don't, ever again.

This is lovely, chadow!
I know what it feels like, believe me.
I've had times where I was in love with a guy, but I also wanted to nail his tongue to a coffee table.
He drove me insane, both romantically and psychologically.
*sigh*
Good luck in love, my friend.
And keep up the great writing!
