I Am Guilty!
I stand before you, my peers
My fellow poets admitting that I
Crossed over that line
Where poetic license does not apply
You see I've been writing about an angel
Have been for several years now
And somewhere along the way
My heart fell in love somehow
Yes I know the rules
A poet's inspiration should remain apart
Never blur those lines
Never allow your heart
To venture beyond boundaries
From which it cannot return
Share our insights with others
So together we all can learn
I am guilty!
To the utmost degree!
Of violating those principles
Letting my heart get away from me
The moment I looked into her eyes
I knew it was too late
My heart would never return
Both poet and man met his fate
At last I met
The one I was waiting for
The one I was destined to love
Unlike any before
And so I pursue her
Forsaking all pretense of control
And so I love her
More than I love my own soul
I write to and about her
Hoping in some small way you might see
The divine beauty of angel
Through my woefully inept poetry
Oh yes I am definitely guilty
Of leaving poetic license far behind
As I passionately pursue
Love of the most angelic kind!
