Hear me, you fretful spirit!
Don't waste your strength this way;
There are better things for you to do,
people to love,
prayers to pray.
Be still and know that I am God;
hush your silly, noisy brain.
While you busily run in circles,
you're not making any gain.
Only do the things you can,
with the blessing that I give you;
Live this moment now at hand,...
no more than this I ask you.
A tired and worried mind, my child,
doesn't do its work as well;
one whose spirit stays refreshed,
has victories to tell.
