i'm getting mean

im getting mean,
and i dont like it,
but i just cant take all the
bad poetry im seeing.
i know i should stop looking,
because theres nothing good
out there
nothing with heart and guts and soul,
but i keep on looking.
and i get the letters
my sons a writer.
hes had some things published
in 2 online magazines
and he intends to be a poet.
hes written sonnets
and has the most absolutely lovely
rhymes.
i feel so good
and special and
sweet
when i read his things.
i even told him
he should send some of his
poems
to hallmark,
theyre that good.
im just writing to you because
i heard youre
a poet also.
even though i
i never read any of your poems
i just had to tell you
that he wants to be a poet
in the worst way
and im writing to you
to hear what you had to say.
dear maam, its too late
i received your letter this morning
concerning your son
wanting to be a poet in the worst way
im afraid
he already is.

I really love your style, which this poem showcases. Straightforward, no bull--...often deadpan with the undertones that make writing interesting. Leaving the reader with enough room to associate.
Deifnitely has "heart and guts and soul".. |

i hardly ever acknowledge when someone calls me a poet or tells me i have talent. Quite frankly i know my stuff is rough and has no correct style... i write because i always have since i was about 8. but doesnt mean i am any good...
i love this poem because its absolutely true and i will hold my hands up that my stuff is in the middle of the rubbish out there! especially my newer and really old stuff..
you have quite a talent with your words to make people to actually stop and think. i love how blunt your words can be yet so soft at the same time... thats not quite right...
anyway again thanks for pointing me in this direction. |
