Not the first time to
pull a vanishing act
For fear of falling
Into a sinister trap

That makes no sense
To the rational mind

Deception and consequences
Marking the scars on you
Like so many cave paintings
That have proven so true

That make no sense
To the educated kind

Smoke and mirrors and perception

The oft tossed bird has
Found its way home
Despite the teachings
Of shrouded tomes

That make no sense
To the rational mind

Shunning the value of all things
To build a new foundation
On the ruins of tradition
To give up all relation

That makes no sense
To the educated kind

Smoke and mirrors and perception.
