I think it is great! I love the brevity... and the rhyming is so poignant. It reads like an old fable or story. To me it read like a man who, in seeing his future reflected in the fish's eye (be it his actual future, or just what he perceived of his future based on the activity in his life that brought him to this particular moment in time) becomes so disenchanted with his life, or so confounded by himself that he forgets his own actions... and does something unthinkably detrimental to himself.
Really, just great. I loved it. |
