its over.
thats it,
its over.
for years
i always wrote my poems
out of love
well, maybe not
always out of love
sometimes
despair
or desperation
or any combination of the three.
but certainly
always out of need.
recently, though,
my books have been selling
a bit better
and that scares me.
let me explain:
this morning
i was writing an e-mail
to a publisher,
and in it i said
now that the new books
done
and doing well,
its time i
get to work on the next.
GET TO WORK!
on poems?
that settles it
if i dont do something soon
itll all be over
and the only thing ill write
will be grocery lists
and laundry lists
and notes for delivery men.
so, im asking you
do me a favor
please
if youre in a bookstore
right now
and youre reading this
put the book
back on the shelf.
dont buy it.
please.
do it for
me.
do it for
us.
ill owe you
one.

I was looking for it the book store here but they did not have so,I decided I would pick me a couple of one when I go to the doctor in Texarkana well fraiday..I surely want to read your work..
