Girl Power

Topic: AngryPoetry

Ice queen on your throne
preferring to be left alone
features carved as if from stone
heart as dry as bleached white (bone)

Goddess holding to your pain
regarding all with such disdain
how long we suffer your hard reign
amidst the hopes that you have (slain)

Valkyrie lording over the skies
smiting those that you despise
berating all who try to rise
laughing while the dreamer (dies)

Little girl with heart so broken
more by what was left unspoken
daddy left before youd woken
now your love is only (token)

Modern woman so designed
sexy, yes, but with a mind!
with you its always double bind
I am so tired of your (kind)

Lord of the Manor

Man of the Manor, so full of himself
Can't even fix the broken down shelf
Handyman not, but so full of bravado
He must be as green as an avocado

Adonis

Handsome and virile, thinks he is god
Flexing his muscles and showing his bod
But not all glistens, not all stars twinkle
Your moisturiser it don't hide your wrinkles

The Hunter

He stalks his prey, with himself in mind
To find the dumb and blondest kind
Someone to use , to make his dinner
Heaven help the poor winner

The Child

The man who never really grew
A peter Pan with manners few
Someone who acts so brave and bold
But who can't accept that he is old

New Man

This man is few and far between
He is domesticated, and very clean
Not for me, the modern way
Give me a real man any day

So this is my answer, like it or not
Free to air the opinions I've got
I am not modern woman, I am just me
We fought for equality, thats the reason you see

Ha ha ( sorry I am also a joker)

Wow! Let me first Spike say that and then defend you. But also before the defense let me applaud the bravery here.

This took courage, alot of it. Many readers (as it seems at least one has already) will take this as anti-feminist. You will be labeled a "he-man woman hater" and alphalfa with spanky will not understand why. I know, this is not the truth. Which is why you could post this in such good conscious.

If you work around too many people of the same ethnicity you will see all of the flaws within at least that group of that ethnic origin. Though saying something about it will label you a racist. But this is not the case.

What people do not see is when groups of (race, sex, or even faith) act as a group they make those on the outside feel ....well just one way would be your poem. Though there are many other emotions than just those.

This is not an anti-woman poem. It's an anti-where you work there is a clique-poem. Anyone that does not see that is either uncomfortable in thier own skin or too sensitive. It's a horrible day when expressing your disdain is labeled as something greater than disdain. It's like saying "either you like this person or you are a biggot." Nothing could be farther from the truth. I like people of different origins, faiths, and even sexual orientations. I am no biggot. Yet there have been groups that I despise. For example I personally hate NAACP, GLAD, The Nation of Islam, and many other groups. This doesn't mean I hate african americans, homosexuals, or muslims. Nor does this mean I do not like african americans, homosexuals, or muslims. It's nothing to do with the individual, it is the organization. I hear people talk about how much they hate Wal-Mart. Does this mean they hate rich white people. Because that is who runs that show. People say they hate Republicans. Does this mean they hate middle-American working man? Because many of those are Republican voters. I hate The Wiggles. This doesn't mean I hate adult men who want to make kids smile. I could go on and on.

Now, on the poem itself. Great job! Full of emotion, no reservations, and deeply poetic. There is nothing else I could say. I love how you labeled each person in this clique by some very harsh and discriptive names. This is powerful poetry. Unlike many angry poems this is a bit more constructive than usual.

BRAVO!

SCM
