To those born of great privilege, that they be mindful of mortality.
Four years of private tutors To learn to read and spell, His father paid a mighty bill That his son might be taught well.
Eight years of English boarding school A kingly sum for every term, But the teachers were the finest And the discipline was firm.
Four years at Academy, A small fortune for each class Bought him a noble uniform With gold epaulets and brass.
Now its all a horrid irony As the casket bears him hence; A peasant soldier shot him With a ball worth just a pence

Good grief. I don't even believe I have words to express what this piece
made me feel. I never expected the ending you conceived, but damn!
it sure has a powerful impact. Excellent conception of thought, here. Very
well done!

Wow this was exceptional. I can see one thing inside of this that screams louder than anything else. In death we are all equal no matter our station in life. Being privilidged doesn't buy us out of tragedy or fate. I liked the flow here and honestly it held my attention throughout and the end really got me.
I love the irony of the title "The Noble". His father bought him nobility in the ways the world thinks nobility can be had. Yet in his ending a free excercise of death by the hand of a soldier gives him heroic nobility. In a sense nobility was purchased from the beginning. This poem speaks beyond the handful of lines. There is certainly more than meets the eye here.
Superb!

I agree with all said. I was thinking on the same lines as Daniel to in life everyone spends so much time trying to shine one on but once we die we are all but the same there is no difference. Sad ending it almost felt like I got punched in the stomache per say was not expecting that.
