The dawn-strayed stars

Contributed by iodinelove on Tuesday, 18th March 2008 @ 02:07:23 PM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

To write of the triumphal acts of love, I must imagine a thousand dawn-strayed stars at yield to the glory of the sun. Still I cannot bring my heart to inscribe the immensity of its resolve, or my hands to divide it into words that upon its countenance diminish.

Cast down in the usurping sorrow of the night, it is a shadow stirred in the depths of darkness, and like the darkness, the light hangs above it, and it is as immeasurable as the hand that cannot reach it, and it is as countless as the words that cannot write it.

I have seen the stars shatter above the sea, the endless night sky rushing above me, and the dreams that dreamers dream. I have seen the lowliest man give hope to a friend, the penniless man raise food for the poor, and I have seen the deepest despair give leave to lift up another.

Yet to put into words the nobility of these acts denies them the significance of their essence, and I am emptied and ashamed at my own effort to write what cannot fall written.
