Scaling up, bark clings to my flesh And a twig rips a tear in my shirt Surfacing warm droplets on my arm.
We balance beam our way to find a seat. Four feet swing over the dark current And my ears are flooded with the sound of nothing.
The water moves slowly And the trees hold their breath For the inevitable.
My eyes squint and note The stampede of black on the horizon And the involuntary smirk on our faces.
We jump- Down, running to meet the wave of wind With open arms in a clearing.
Four feet dance to the sound of our shower And we let it soak into our skin Staring at the spinning trees.
