Rapidly repetitious rhythms
Of my heart beat
Beat steady and strong
Like a drum
A syncopated rhythm section
That drives the soul of a song
And holds it together
My heart songs
Singing sweetly melodic phrases
Echoing the sound of your voice
Words that drip from your lips
Sweet as honey
Anticipation of your simple hello
Our held embrace
The flash of your eyes
And in that brief moment
I find solace and relief
A moment that fades to the next
