It Will Be So
I, too, have a dream:
When I dare to dream,
when my heart throbs with volcanic sobs;
the times when I selfishly relish
the basin of pure emotion place before me;
as fountains of scalding emotion bathe my cheeks;
when I am thus absorbed,
I
do
dream.
My dream is not for one race of people;
it is not for a culture,
or a religious montage;
my yearnings are not for communities,
or fiefdoms,
or states,
or nations;
my spirit does not agonize
for the destiny of one self-aggrandizing species,
or for even one of its kind;
This dream that I have
is not merely for the living,
the dead,
or that which has never reproduced its own;
This burgeoning seed within my heart
is not even personified within the Living Christ.
The Dream I dream is for all that is.
Because I know that which first dreamed,
I am able to know,
it will be so.
