Ode To Lust

Contributed by countrygirl327 on Tuesday, 22nd April 2008 @ 07:08:50 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

Oh sweetness so forbidden
shunned upon by holy ones
why must your aroma be so alluring?
that it melts the purest of hearts
and even those who long to be
blessed with light
are brought to tears burning with passion
each and every night

Oh blissfully exquisite sin
given that is your inerrant name
why must your flavor conjure the thirstiest appetite?
that a sip can never quench
like a pond of it turns into a stream
and a lake into a river
damned be the pleasure that spreads like a disease
and cursed be the joy that comes from its release

Oh precious illicit flower
such relief is in your fulfillment
why must you be so heavenly despised?
that lust be considered shameful
and the natural associated with evil
so to embrace you, to take advantage
is the sole option over life's torture
but deprivation may be preferred to an eternal scorcher

Oh sweetness so forbidden
you feed me like a casserole
your twisted version of the truth
and your evident deception brings
life to tired and forgotten
beckoning crevices within me.

Well written poem on a topic that is seemingly forbidden. Great use of metaphors.... I loved it..
