On the verge of war
In this country of ours
We wait for Iraq
Were counting the hours
We want them to disarm
Get rid of their guns
A father is crying
He is leaving his son
He doesnt understand
We must fight to be free
They are risking their lives
For you and for me
My time is almost here
I am going to go fight
I will risk MY life
For something done right
My time has come now
Ill be on my way
My family is sad
Wishing Id stay
Now in Iraq
Lonesome and cold
Thinking of my baby
Wishing I could hold
I am home now
All safe and sound
The war is finally over
We fought for this ground
I lost some of my brothers
Their families are crushed
I will pray for their families
Hoping the best
Now I must go
My poem is now done
The war is now over
My new life, has just begun
