I Don't Know

Contributed by Stalkee on Thursday, 13th March 2003 @ 12:20:00 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

I don't know why I can't talk to you
I don't know why, I can't turn around and say "hi"
Well you're always on my mind and you're making me go mad
And it's all because I know I'll never have your love

Just give me a chance, get to know me
You might begin to like me and you won't be sorry
And at night I'm always dreaming of you
And it's the only time I ever talk to you

I don't know how to meet you
I don't know why, I can't just say a word to you
And I'm always praying for that day
That I will finally talk to you

I don't know what I should do
I don't know why I can't crack a joke
Everyday my goal is just one thing
And that is to just make you smile

I don't know why I can't talk to you
I don't know why, I can't turn around and say "hi"
Well you're always on my mind and you're making me go mad
And it's all because I know I'll never have your love

Why is it always about how the person has never gotten to know YOU? Have you ever considered the fact that, because you have not spoken with the person, you do not know THEM? How can you desire the love of a person when you have no earthly idea what the are like as a person? It is a rediculous and unfortunate state of mind to be in. More than likely there is something about them that attracts you to them, their look, their level of extrovertedness, some sort of charisma they have. Now turn it around... not to be insulting, but could it be that you possess none of the qualities that attract them? So that even if they did get to know you, they may never be able to love you? Why is it that you can choose some one you "want" based on a set of criteria, and yet you expect the object of your affection to throw their criteria for choosing a mate out the window? You cannot judge what is right for some one else, and you can't be picky and expect others not to be.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
