When Verse Takes Affect (And)

When Verse Takes Affect

Theres a song hanging in me
but its going to be written for you,
and somehow that isnt fair
but its the only way to get it through.
So go ahead and steal what little I could reveal with my words
of all this collected vocabulary that I heard.

It goes car rides, white lies and giant shimmering eyes
blue like a moon Ive never seen.
And one blanket to two bodies tucked away and tight
in a trance between whats real and a dream.
These are the things I learned were beautiful
when verse takes affect and presses us to be metrical.

Love me originally in a he say clich,
take what its worth which is measureless.
I guess whats best is wishing you were lucky
but coming up to find youre only blessed.
What a funny way to look at something
so serious it amounts to nothing.

And maybe someone other than you could relate
to the same four lines Ive always used,
mixed around and fixed in a feverish pace
perplexed and punned from being renewed.
As if all the thoughts I thought I had
were everyone elses thoughts instead.

Because these are the things I learned were beautiful
when verse takes affect and presses us to be metrical.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
