~She Knew~

Contributed by Jenni_K on Friday, 16th May 2008 @ 11:01:09 AM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

~~^~~

She knew she would never have his love,
That much she could accept.
She knew that she would never discover,
The secrets that he kept.

She knew his heart was hurting
And the pain was very deep.
A daily smile on his face
Was all she tried to keep.

She knew that she could never be
More than a good friend to him.
Chances of anything else
were non-existent, not even slim.

She knew all these things
Still, with him, she stayed.
To be his friend forever
Was all that she had prayed.

Jenni, this is heart wrenching. I hope "She" is fictional. An excellent poem.
