Friend Moon

Contributed by spike on Saturday, 24th May 2008 @ 01:43:30 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

I was a young man when
you revealed your charms
on hill and glen,
and in nights ebon gloom
through my window youd steal
into my room
to lay waxen beams
across my eyes.

A callow youth,
insensitive to your ways
with light and shadow
but how could I know?
your power to pull the blood likes tides
and stir hearts with luminosity
was yet to work its magic on me.

La Luna, your lambent gaze
watched me through
good and bad days;
weighing my clumsy seductions
and rejections,
showing me the
grandness and connections
bathing me in ghostly illumination
to at last see love as path,
and destination.

Friend Moon.

Ah this made me smile. The picture and the poem fit so well together. I loved how the poem flowed like the moon coming over the hilltops to dust the earth in its pale glow.

Bravoooo my friend I love it simply love it.

Hugs N love

Michelle

Ah, Spike. I could sit and stare at the picture you chose for hours. It
has a certain power over thought and emotion, no? Almost as much
as the moon in full breathing life, doth possess. But what's more, when
you couple this power with the words that lay underneath, men are dumb
with wonderment and women swoon. Dear poet, this is a particularly captivating
piece because of your last few lines. It places the poet in a vulnerable,
but precious light. And allows the reader to feel accompanied on this journey
that the moon creates ...

does that make any sense? lol Forgive. I am lost when reading poetry
about or inspired by the beauty of our precious satellite. Not to mention ,
my company of late has been one of the most intense of the romantics.
(imagine that!)

Just know, this touched parts of me that can seldom be reached by humans.
A remarkable work of art, S. An extreme pleasure to read.

this is an amazing write, truly brilliant, you create a splendid picture of mother moon as a kind of a guardian, that was just perfect, i thoguth the flow of it was very unique and really made it a pleasure too read, I also have an affinity with our moon, the most ancient stirrer of earthly souls, i loved so many of you lines, " your power to pull the blood like tides" that was supreme, it really emphasised the power of the moon over earth adn humans as a whole, all in all one of hte best writes ive read here, stunning work freind, true poetry, keep it up!!!
