I've spent my lifetime in a cage
Walled in by the expectations
Of people around me. Acting on a stage
The script written in my blood
As my life is turned into a joke
Something to reassure others
As I'm left wondering,
What happened to it all
Poor little boy, always
Doing what he's told.
Grown up little child
Never could be so bold
As to make a decision for himself
Or do anything on his own
At every turn
He has shown
His ability to be manipulated
Turned and stipulated
Everyone's happiness comes
Before my own, as I'm
Left to never be more than content
As my future is sent
In any direction but my own

I couldnt have said it better myself...I have spent a large part of my life doing the exact same thing. At some point though we have to think of ourselves...and think about our own happiness...I know it is easier said than done but it can be done...and dont think that because you think of yourself from time to time that you are selfish...because your not.
You did a brilliant job with this piece...Good Luck..your not alone
