Thoughts Do Creep
Sometimes, I just lie there awake
In sleep there seems theres no escape
There is this constant urge to write
An addiction with no end in sight
I tossed and turned, then turned some more
Up from my bed I paced the floor
Just cannot get this from my mind
An impulse, now and then unkind
To another room, I light the light
On paper here some lines Id write
There are times many, or maybe a few
But from my pen the words would spew
And when I thought Id had my said
Turned off the light, then back to bed
Where I now think that I could sleep
Still in my mind, the thoughts do creep
At times Id pray theyd melt away
These thoughts that steal my sleep away
For if I knew a way at best
Id stop these thoughts, so I could rest

| Wow Zig, How true and wonderfully written. I always have lines and stanzas running through my head. It's like you need a tape recorder, even for the times you talk in your sleep. Great write.........Mike |

Great write...I have at times felt this way myself..It's like words and pieces of poetry push their way into my brain demanding they be written..I'm not a poet, and would never claim to be, so most times I just let the words die..
I'm glad you don't... |
