the beautiful

i guess she was not
a very pretty girl
in the popular sense
but to me
she was always beautiful
through and through

she knew how to laugh
when to cry
and when not to
how to help a friend
her smile gave life

so i went back home
and told her
what i thought
how i felt
and made her mine
