Only that morning wed been commissioned We cast off into open waters. Never to dock again.
As the sun rose into the night sky We turned our prow into the wind And clearly reality came to meet us
Tuk tuk for hire Please sir, hire a tuktuk They bounced as minnows off our bow.
We would not be daunted. What could mere words do? On we sail; to find the furthest ocean
*
Now, moored in a different harbour A more permanent one Green barnacles crawl over our hull
Weighed down with stores Never to put to sea again. So when the bell rings
And were asked if we can spare A moment of our time We cannot sail on.
Instead, we sit there And remember youthful times And live in memory of what we were.
