Surrender
Death comes upon us Creeping like a transparent ghost Waiting in the ecstasy of grief To fill our hearts with despair We never see it coming No matter how prepared we think we are We are all we have got Fight the good fight Beat the darkness back Because it will swallow you whole
Salt the wounds, burn the nerves I will never get you back I fall to my knees Hands covering my withered face I should have saved you Found some way Passion to make things different Fight the death in the night
Screaming to change things Silent in confusion Surrender to hope

Damn, this was extremely emotive! I could feel the "wailing" inside this.
When emotion is this overwhelming, it is difficult to capture in words,
so bravo, poet. This was very well done.
