WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GIRL?

To you I sit and bear my soul
What happened to the girl,
I used to know?
Once bright and cheerful,
Full of laughter and love
I felt on top of the world,
Free as a dove
My mind keeps me twisted,
From morning to night
It shows me all that is wrong,
And cries for my inner light
What happened to that girl,
Who would put up a fight
What happened to the strength she held,
Even in the darkest of times
I cry for the woman,
I used to be
I cry for I dont know,
What has happened to me
Feeling alone,
Though theres others around
The deafening silence,
Of unspoken sounds.
Begging for an answer,
To guide me on my way...
I just want to be that woman,
Who had hopes a brighter day
How did she get lost,
Somewhere in the inbetween...
Or have I just imagined,
This woman I used to be?

We all lose track of who were are sometimes, just be sure you always find your way back to the person you truly are. Great writing.
