Can't Turn Around.

I looked at your picture today
And I realized I miss you more than I did yesterday
I started to cry so I set it down
I wanted so bad to pick it back up
But instead I walked away and didn't turn around
With every step my heart broke a little more
And it felt as if I was in a thousand pieces
All by the time I reached the door
I took two deep breaths and tried to hold myself together
That picture means the world to me
I could stare at you forever
But today's the day I force myself to let go of you
I've got to get rid of this picture if it's the last thing I do
The last reminder of the person I once knew
And I miss you, my God I miss you more and more each day
That's why it's killing me to walk away
I don't know what's wrong with me
My mind knows the truth but my heart won't see
It refuses to acknowledge what this has come to be
Only a photograph left of our history
And with no explanation it's left a mystery
An open book that's never been closed
Just like the wounds I wear, unstitched and exposed
My existance has become the darkest place
I'm bleeding hearts around this picture of your face
Held hostage by the memories
Getting rid of that picture is like getting rid of the disease
The one plaguing my heart that nobody sees
So with a kiss goodbye I set your picture down
I love you so much that it's killing me...
And that's exactly why I can't turn back around.

"I'm bleeding hearts around this picture of your face" that is such an amazingly beautiful and heavy line. The amount of emotion you put into your poetry is off the charts. Excellent excellent writing.
