A butterfly perches on a delicate petal Hidden among the surrounding flowers But strangely striking, Forcing me to take a second glance; Its vibrant colors like a rainbow Scattered across its body. And as he flaps his tissue wings Preparing for flight, The butterfly disappears A beautiful creation fading into the distance.
A single book waits on a dusty shelf Its cover worn and pages torn Waiting to be picked among the rest A masterpiece to be discovered. The little boy walks by catching a glimpse And is tempted to read This beautiful work of art But continues walking Forgetting in a single moment.
Both a masterpiece to unfold, A mysterious creation Beckoning us to uncover. What started as a simple caterpillar, A scratch of words on a napkin, Has evolved; Forming a unique entity With beauty to behold. If only we were to stop and look We could truly see The wings of a page; A story flying by.
