TURNING POINT

Contributed by deadwriter on Thursday, 9th October 2008 @ 08:24:55 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Turning Point

Clothes outdated, faded and torn
Face whiskery, weather beaten and worn
Years have taken their toll
Used up everything I had except for my soul

That was buried deep behind the faade, my visible outer shell
Not a person on earth could see inside to my own personal Hell
I live for the day, terrified of the night
That is when the demons take flight

The whirlwind that is my life continues to blow
Further into the black hole I continue to go
Reaching the exact point of no return
Deciding to give up without any concern

A split second decision you did make
Your own safety you did forsake
With a firm hand breaking through my shell
Entering boldly into my own personal Hell

From out of the blue you saved my life that night
Encouraging me to walk the path that is right
You have been the spotlight through the darkest of nights
Since your arrival the demons have not been in sight

Thank you my friend for caring so much about me
One day I will repay the favor, just wait and see
Though we are kept apart by time and space
I will never forget the image of your face

Thank goodness that friend was there.
I would die without you around my friend.
This poem had so many depths of emotion in it.
Strong, powerful, tender, sad, forlorn, geezzzz.
You captured everything perfectly.

Awesome work.

This is so beautifully inspiring. There is a softness to the desperation
that makes it so wonderfully beautiful to witness the end of the piece.
Connection. And it is there between every human being. I'm glad you
wrote and posted this piece to remind us all that there are those
who have decided that separation is not the key. Even at the risk of
their own life. It gives me enormous hope and a faith I've not seen
in a while. I thank you so much for that friend. Exceptional write. ^_^

Not only is heartwarming to see someone reach a turning point, but even more so that someone else takes the time to help.
Appreciate the write, thanks.
