Of Dreams and Nightmares
Preface:
When mathematic disciplines refuse to align with nature, people can't count. When the physical and natural sciences refuse to align with nature, people look kind'a dumb. When the social sciences refuse to align with nature, people needlessly die. When people breathe water as if it were air, they drown. When people live in a determined universe as if it were a free-will universe, you get the history of a dysfunctional species.
Success in a dysfunctional world is a lot like slip-sliding, scraping and scrounging, shimmying and shoving and clawing your way to the top only to find out the mountain is made of dung and the ones at the bottom are a whole lot cleaner than the ones at the top.
I have to wonder what success looks like in a functional world. We've never lived in one, so I guess we'll just have to dream.
Schizophrenic's Delight
Once again the wisp of a dream has settled upon my brow. Like many peaceful nights of old, it settles upon my brow. Many peaceful nights of old! Dreams! Just fanciful dreams! But, non-the-less, the dreams return... I cherish my world of dream...
A world of dream is reality, to one as lonely as I. It comforts the soul, and muffles the sighs of one as lonely as I. It softens the heart of a hardhearted man, it melts, it warms, it fills... It brightens the nights of solitude; many a whim it fulfills. But, it is empty, like so many things in this polyglot world of ours. A dream is a riddle, a waste of time, in this world of clocks and hours.
So, me and my dreams, will mosey on down to a world just over there... a world where dreams are reality; a world that waits, just over there.
