So my life is kind of a mess,
But I choose to digress because for awhile now
I've been watching you,
Wondering if it's fair to choose.
Because either way, I lose.
And I could sing the blues forever,
But I can't seem to get my tunes together.
With each little step,
I lose a little breath
As we fall further and further in this meaningless endeavor.
I'm cleaning up my bruises
But I'm just a little confused
And I find it kind of amusing
That you still don't hear the music.
I find it hard to believe that you can't see,
I think I've been deceived
And I know you agree
That these lies were bound to crawl up my back and crack my spine.
I despise every line
But I keep reaching for the notes to make it work,
Forcing it from my throat,
Breathing in dirt,
And still hurting,
Knowing this is perverted.
I never thought I'd fall this far
Because I knew what you are.
I never thought I'd still be sleeping,
Hearing those monsters creeping,
Whispering lies again.
I never thought you would pretend to change
Just to watch me trip. It's strange,
To watch you feign innoncence.
I never thought I'd follow you,
Led by the untrue.
It's kind of hard to swallow.
Yet I'm still singing the blues,
Still waiting for you.
