Soggy Matches

Contributed by navydocny on Friday, 17th October 2008 @ 02:05:50 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

What is it that you truly want, its always elusive and always it's taunt
Happiness you say, you've not known its touch, the joy of true love, to feel this as such
I wished that I could give you, all of these things, the light in your eyes that only love brings
To think that I had that and now it is lost, to reclaim my loss, whatever I must
Someday someone will find your hand, like finding a jewel, on the beach in the sand
Fortunate am I, to have once claimed you mine, true love dies if given the enough time
Vicariously your love, to me will seep, from dreams of our children deep in my sleep
A torch you want me to no longer hold, thoughts of dying, old and alone
In it's stead, I will now carry, some soggy matches, my want I will bury
Given enough time, the matches will dry, that jewel may return to the sand there to lie
Then relight the torch, I'll hold in my hand, and I'll scour the beach, and search through the sand..

this comes as close as I can remember to the most heartfelt, tender and emotional pieces I have read on this site. in all honesty I had to move away from this screen for a moment to gather myself.. Lane

Steve, I cannot tell you of the ache that took immediate occupation of
my heart. There is an endless misery that lingers upon reading your words.
I'm so sorry for your pain. I can't say that enough. It is such a merciless
and unyielding demon, is it not? The last two lines pierced my soul more
deeply than I can remember ever feeling. I wish things were different
for you. I wish for your days to become a beacon of hope and dreams
that come true. Kara is right. You deserve every happiness.

Take care of you, my friend. *hugs you tight*
