I was tooling it home after work. Graveyard shift pays better than day shift. Douglas Aircraft was in full production. It had been raining all night long and the streets were slippery,
My good friend, Carl was in his breezer behind me. He drives a 40 Ford convertible and I a 41 Chevy club coupe. Hed come to meet me and share a cup of coffee at the Clock Drive In where the car hops all have cute white boots and serve directly to our windows.
Didnt made it to the Clock that morning. A car pulled out in front of me from a side street. Turning to miss the car I swerved into the oncoming traffic just misssing one car and then hitting a soft shoulder rolling my Chevy over into a plowed field.
Carls breezer came to a halt at the side of the road. He ran over to me to see if I was all right. I cranked the window down on the passenger side. Climbing out I hoped the car wouldnt catch fire. I walked away from that accident without a scratch.
