World Shattering Truths

Lies we tell to each other To ourselves, about one another. Lie about ourselves And hope that no one understands
Tell each other that we let them in. Lies, that's how it always begins. You never gave in to me. As much as you lie, you were never mine.
You say it is I who lie But I'm the one who tells the truth. As I sit alone, I start to cry And where are you to hold me close?
I can hear my world shatter Falling down all around me Broken glass, shards that clatter. And cut me to the bone.
In this barren waste Alone I walk With such a bitter taste Loss and failure. So true, that I was never good enough.
