She played with her food not willing to look up at me. Around us others sat talking and laughing. The cafeteria was full of office workers on lunch breaks. I didnt have much time left before I had to leave.
Our conversation had been tense and she had showed tears. I knew she didnt want our relationship broken. The things I had told her hurt. Its not pleasant to end an affair that had been sweet and deep.
Why do I walk away from a person whod been so good to me. She wanted marriage and that frightened me. I cant handle the responsibility of home and family. Ive never been good with life time commitments.
Where will all this end? Down the years Ill probably regret this conversation. If I cant commit to her, what lays in store for me. Maybe a second hand existence.
