There are times in life for everyone
Where we are hopelessly lost
And each moment is spent
Either
Dwelling inside one's personal chaos
or
Occupying oneself to forget
Self reflection is easy
However
Truth in reflection
Is amongst the hardest of tasks
We all know what we believe
We all know what we want to believe
Yet it is so rare to believe
The truth
About ourselves
For an outsider
Seeing the truth about another is simple
Yet
Even when our truth is laid bare to us
Even when it demands acknowledgment
We choose
Ignorance
Forgetfulness
Acquiescence
And many continue this trend
Until that final moment
When death is on the brink
And fear has rooted deep
Only then do we realize how ultimately foolish
We have been
And how much simpler
How much happier
Our lives could have been
If we had just taken a deeper look
Into ourselves
