Contemporary Chaos

Contributed by Rakerman1999 on Friday, 14th November 2008 @ 10:02:14 PM in AEST
Topic: abstract

Dreamers and schemers
lie covered in soil
Freed from the fetters
of trouble and toil
Sneezing and wheezing
they struggled for breath
Mortal a moment
then done in by death

Hurrying, scurrying
onward they race
Leaders and losers
will fall on their face
Winners and sinners
the fool and the sage
Brought to the brink
by the angst of the age

Wow. Great write. Dark, concise yet profound poem with easy, rhythmic flow. A cynical view of our hectic society, but accurate as well.

One of my favorite things about poetry is Economy of words. Your poem does that nicely, minimum amout of words to say what you have to say. Dark subject, but enjoyable read.
