In a car, going nowhere

Contributed by RazorBladeKisses on Friday, 28th November 2008 @ 01:24:52 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Riding in the car at night
Rain beating lightly against the hood
Keeping rhythm with the passing time
On a freeway, going nowhere
Headlights burning deep into the midnight air
The music fading in the background
Dark and hidden in the crevices of forever
My minds wandering into oblivion
My heart beats slowly
This road never ends
Every significant moment races past my mind
Fading to a trance
Echoes of everything flow through my ears
Liquid salt rim my eyes
Everything I thought I knew
I realized I knew nothing about
Taking in this opportunity
Now its written in the night sky
As clear as velvet fog
I think I'm caving in
Under my skin
This blurry scene came like a wrecking ball
The lines guiding me on my voyage
Blurred and distant
This stencil can't keep me in
Driving to nowhere, I've got nowhere to be

Again I am just thrilled to see a new poet on here doing what poets do best. Soul searching, asking questions (rarely answering them), expressing, disecting, emoting, etc. This is wonderful. From a personal (as a reader) stand point this takes me back to my youth when many times on night rides going nowhere (high, drunk, trying to figure a way to get to know the girl next to me, hanging out with people who would kill for me and I would gladly kill for but equally we could easily lead one another to certain death do to care free risk taking). I remember many nights struggling with this. Everyone was laughing I was looking at the sky, breathing in the breeze through a cracked window. Wondering where I was really going, thinking there was something wrong with me. Then oneday I realized during the times I was not doing this and was part of the laughter someone in the same vehicle was doing the same thing.

To be young and headed for nowhere....it is what makes us who we become. It is what fertilizes the soul of the poet. To explore the vast depths of nowhere.

I greatfully and sincerely applaud you on this work. I am very excited to see someone with your passion and thought process on here. It's a breath of fresh air. People join this site daily, poets join rarely. Welcome and I feel I am not just speaking for myself when I state..."you are among friends here".

SUPERB!

A truly captivating write. I couldn't take my eyes off it. I especially liked this bit:

'Dark and hidden in the crevices of forever
My minds wandering into oblivion
My heart beats slowly
This road never ends
Every significant moment races past my mind
Fading to a trance
Echoes of everything flow through my ears
Liquid salt rim my eyes'

Enchanting. Magical.
