Only one World

Contributed by geordie on Tuesday, 23rd December 2008 @ 08:31:21 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Only One World
Only one world is all we have
For everyone to share
As nations battle nations
Can we only stand and stare?

The lessons learned from history
Are totally ignored
Now!!!!! its atom bombers
Not just, the bloodied sword

How much time is needed?
To bring us to our senses
Do we all look on in horror?
While sitting on the fences

Conversing with each other
Would be, a better plan
I hope that I can see it
Within my own life span

Religions preach peace
Good will, to all mankind
Dont hide behind religion
As an excuse for genocide

Lets stop and have a think
All colours race or creeds
How could we make it better?
For this the greatest needs

This beautiful earth is all we have
Shared by every nation
Stop ruining it now for everyone
Give us cause for celebration

Very true, and much like some of my writings. Stanza 5, about religion, would be my favorite. Happens all the time sadly. Thanks for sharing =).
