All strangely still
No distant whine of sirens
No creak or groan of house
Not even the familiar hum
Of air-conditioning
There is no sound of note
But the thump of my heart
And smooth rhythmic breathing
The quiet deafening to my ears
Disconnected from Earth
Mind searching for reason
Lost to thought
