Lake of Frozen Tears

Contributed by lnnie on Tuesday, 6th January 2009 @ 02:06:55 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

To Love No More
is a dreary trek
a trudge across
frozen ice above
a Lake of Frozen Tears
shed over Love Lost.

I see the Pillar of Lost Esteem
towering;
a Wall of Broken Hearts
each telling their story
in the cacophony;

an Ocean of Salted Wounds.

To Love No More
is to begin
a journey
no one wants to take
or reach that destination
we all know is Complete Despair.

Along the way
I see those who gave up;
who've planted
anger-plants to mark their passing;
anger plants growing in
the Jungle of Bitter Regrets.

Swaying plants lash out at you
when you pass
while below your feet
there is the small raging mind-set,
and scattered weeping
abandoned friends.

There are hordes of Self-Flagulaters
and Blamers
who fly overhead
dropping stones;

hordes trekking on and on.

I am buffeted
and
my footing is unstable;
because cracks below my feet
reveal
Mental Instabilities
reaching up
as I walk by
grabbing my legs,
trying to pull me down
below
bottom-less gravity.

I stall on this journey,
for it is clear
to Love Again
in all its hurts
cannot be worse
than this.

I guess I prefer
the risk Loving Once More
and inch
toward feeling again.

what a fantastic poem! the imagery was spellbinding! i have felt like this too many times to retell. i have only ever felt the bad sad of love, and even that is better than this emptiness that you describe in your poem with such eloquence. wonderful work, 5/5

I have read all of your poems this morning. I decided to sparcely comment and not inundate you with a parody of comments.

The one thought that has stayed in my mind in regards to your poetry is---your consumate way of bringing simple thoughts into mind imagery that makes me envious of your talent.

You take emotion, wrap it up in words, make it flow to a place that startles me and then finalize it with talent.

Be it beaches, love, laughter, treasure boxes etc. you make it become something more...

Thank you for all your submissions. I've enjoyed them.
