-----------------------------
why do they all sing about california?
plastic dreams and fake realities
i'd rather stay in this corner of the world; if california is my other option.
america's wasteland on display
why submerse yourself, in something so tragically toxic?
i'll scour the world; for something comparably cliched. let me know if you get there first.
running the world twice over
you'll never find me in california

As I sit here reading your poem
I’m thinking of all those California songs
and this poem starts to make a lot of sense.
A worth while enjoyable read for me
thanks

A sentiment I can only ascent too. The work its subject matter and some masterful couplet of vision make of this piece a msterful joy to read. In fact I'll add the highest compliment I can give "I wish I'd written it".
Thank you I.B.
ps which is your corner of the world? |

Well i've got a friend in L.A. who's nice, but I see what you mean. It sells america and the rest of the world an illusion. That you make it in the movie business (when 99% statistically don't) and that success is laid out on a plate. In reality a lot of people go there and end up with nothing, like the mexicans. It's a shame, but the illusion is damn powerful.
