A dark and lonely dungeon cell Is where I chose to hide I clamped the shackles on my heart And slowly lost my pride My loved ones soon began the task To free me from my pain They'd break through walls and pull me out But I'd crawl back again They soon tired of trying to help For I was resolute And so they stood outside my walls And kept watch for the brute Eventually I saw the light And drew myself as one I chose that day to walk away And out into the sun At last I've left that boy behind (And though it took a while) There's no more sadness in my heart Instead I wear a smile
