  Social

i can not hide from under a rock

Contributed by lostrelic on Tuesday, 13th January 2009 @ 09:50:10 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

How have we got so far in life when the world around us has become so materialistic?
Why have we let our children become spoiled riding on the coats of advertising and hollywoods ideas?
What can become of our society when the only thing thats real is the god of consumerism?
When will we wake up to the fact that we have lost all individuality and only become what society wants us to be?

We have become a generation of shoppers
following nothing but the golden rule.

We live in other peoples dreams while depression runs our own life
but they need us in this state so we do not notice the slaves that we have become.

Does this world of plastic make you feel that something is not just right but everything is all but false?

We live in computer generated worlds sipping cola and reading peoples lives
stuck in this thought that i am nobody with out my clothes or the car that i ride.

Nature going to waste on products so easy to just throw away
values designed by marketing firms to tell us how to live!

Are we not aloud to think for ourselves anymore is there such a thing as ourselves?
Or are we all just byproducts of the new age global cash cows.

We have no ideas anymore since they tell us what to think
We have no dreams anymore but making fame and fortune
we have no souls anymore since you can not buy them at any store.

What have we become where are we headed and does this all seem alright with you?
I have shaken my head at society to long i have become a alien in a world full of clones.
Its time to say that i can not hide anymore in my own little world the thieves have come in my door selling lies.
They have come selling me there wares.

the great buddha was right all along. 'life is a cycle of dissatisfaction'. what he meant was that we always desire more material wealth than we currently have, and we are never satisfied until we get the latest mp3 player or flash tv. relinquish desire for material wealth and you will be happy, and your focus will shift to the important things in life like friends and family. you have expressed my discontent with the world perfectly with this, great job my friend.

Wow... and that is the truth! Just think tho this leaves a minority... and those minorities are the "Einsteins" of life!
