Oppressors in the society

Contributed by ammar on Thursday, 22nd January 2009 @ 10:14:59 AM in AEST
Topic: political

They would lie, deceive and cheat
They would harm, torture and oppress
To build up wealth and to seek more power,
They would leave others in a mess
They break the law and yet get away
Their crimes are plenty, their sins countless
They seem to enjoy life very much
They have comfort, a lot more they possess
Ah, but certainly do not have everything:
They are all deprived of happiness
Indeed, they do not have what money cannot buy;
Short-lived is their dominance and their success
Lonely is their existence, lonelier is always the death
They are too vulnerable to misery and stress
Without many good deeds, they live uselessly
This they do not have the courage to confess

A fine almost prophetic statement whose sentiments I agree with but, & they always ask this is exactly who are they?
I don't expect you to answer this we can all guess. Thank you I.B.
