I wake up and the daylight seeps through
and at that very moment come the memories of you
seems my only escape is when I dream
the time when pain isn't as hard as it may seem
I can't let go because it's still hard to believe
that we made it through, then you let me leave
I took those steps assuming you would follow
the regret I've created is so hard to swallow
looking back on the path I decided to take
I notice it's one I took for my own sake
how selfish I realize i started to be
I didn't think of you, I only thought of me
I stop, turn around, and go back the other way
with you on a new path is where i will stay
new memories will begin while we walk together
hand in hand, the path will go on forever
